For most of the time Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet have been together, the story was told entirely in photographs. Paparazzi shots, concert footage, a kiss at an awards show. Neither of them said a word about it in public. That changed in January 2026, when Chalamet stood on a stage, thanked his “partner of three years” and looked straight at her. Here is the timeline as it actually happened, what has been said on the record, and what is still just gossip.

How it started: 2023
Rumors about the two began in April 2023, not long after Jenner’s split from Travis Scott. The first clear public moment came in September 2023 at Beyoncé’s Renaissance show in Los Angeles, where the two were filmed kissing in the stands. Days later they were at the U.S. Open in New York, and that autumn they turned up at a New York Fashion Week dinner and at the WSJ. Magazine Innovator Awards. Nobody confirmed anything. Nobody needed to.

Chalamet’s only comment that year was indirect. In a GQ interview in October 2023 he talked about wanting privacy and name-checked the “Worldwide Privacy Tour” episode of South Park. It was read as a joke about his new life and, in hindsight, as a statement of how the next two years would go.
Three years in public, zero interviews
From there the pattern held. They attended the Golden Globes together in January 2024 and again in January 2025. In March 2025 Jenner joined him at the Vanity Fair Oscar party after he lost Best Actor for A Complete Unknown. In May 2025 they walked their first red carpet as a couple, at the David di Donatello awards in Rome, and sat courtside at a Knicks game with Kendall Jenner. In August 2025 she visited him in Budapest during the Dune: Part Three shoot. In December they matched in orange at the Los Angeles premiere of Marty Supreme.

Through all of it, not one joint interview, not one caption, not one answer to a direct question. Jenner has kept her recent personal life far closer than other members of her family. Chalamet has avoided discussing his private life for his entire career. Their shared silence made the relationship unusual: fully documented, and completely unexplained by the two people in it.
January 2026: he said it out loud
The silence ended at the Critics Choice Awards on January 4, 2026. Accepting Best Actor for Marty Supreme, Chalamet closed his speech with: “Lastly, I’ll just say thank you to my partner of three years. Thank you for our foundation. I love you. I couldn’t do this without you.” Cameras cut to Jenner in the audience, who mouthed “I love you” back, as E! News reported.

A week later, on January 11, he won the Golden Globe for the same role and thanked her again from the stage. The following day he posted a photo of himself holding the trophy, with a second, unmistakably manicured hand holding the other end of it. That half-cropped hand was the first time Jenner appeared in any of his posts, and the internet treated it as the official announcement it was.

The rest of the 2026 awards season followed the new rules. They attended the BAFTAs in London on February 22. In March she went to the Oscars with him in custom Schiaparelli; he did not win, and they went to the after-party together anyway. By summer they were a fixture at Madison Square Garden during the Knicks’ playoff run and sat together at the World Cup final at MetLife Stadium on July 19.
What is confirmed and what is not
Confirmed, in his own words: they have been a couple since 2023, and he credits her as a foundation of his work. Confirmed by the public record: three awards seasons together, a first red carpet in Rome, a first Instagram appearance in January 2026. Jenner has still not given an interview about him, and her own account remains relationship-free.

Not confirmed: an engagement. The topic comes up in every interview Chalamet gives, and he deflects it every time. Not confirmed: the story that they met at Paris Couture Week in January 2023, which has been reported widely but never addressed by either of them. Not confirmed: anything attributed to a “source close to the couple” about how serious it is or where they live. Those accounts have been wrong about this pair before.
Why people still follow it
Part of it is the mismatch. Jenner’s audience and Chalamet’s audience overlap less than you would think, and each side brought its own frame to the pairing. Part of it is that she has been famous since she was a teenager and has grown more private with age, while his profile kept climbing, from Dune and Wonka to a Golden Globe. And part of it is simply that for three years the only sources were photographs, which left room for everyone to project whatever they wanted onto two people who refused to narrate their own story. He finally narrated one sentence of it. Everything else is still theirs.
