Most boxers pick a weight and live there. Jake Paul treats the scale like a dial. In thirteen months he weighed in at 227 pounds to fight a 58-year-old Mike Tyson, dropped 28 pounds to make cruiserweight against Julio César Chávez Jr., then went back up to 216 to stand across from Anthony Joshua, who outweighed him by nearly 27 pounds and ended the night in round six. The question people type into Google, “how much does Jake Paul weigh”, has a different answer every time he fights, and as of this week it matters again: on October 8, 2026, his promoter said he is cleared to box. Here are the official numbers, what the jaw did to the plan, and what he says comes next.
The scale, fight by fight
These are the official weigh-in figures, not estimates.
- November 15, 2024, Mike Tyson, AT&T Stadium. Paul 227¼ lb, a career high; Tyson 228.4 lb. Paul won on points.
- June 28, 2025, Julio César Chávez Jr., Anaheim. Paul 199.4 lb, under the 200 lb cruiserweight limit; Chávez 198.4 lb. ESPN noted the drop from the Tyson weight; Bloody Elbow called it a 27-pound transformation. Paul won on points.
- December 19, 2025, Anthony Joshua, Kaseya Center, Miami. Paul 216.6 lb; Joshua 243.4 lb, inside a 245 lb cap written into the contract because heavyweight has no limit. Joshua won by knockout, round six.
There was supposed to be a fourth number. For a planned November 2025 exhibition with Gervonta Davis, Paul said in a Betr video, “I have to make 195.” That fight never happened, and Joshua took the date instead, which in hindsight was like swapping a sparring session for a car crash.

What the jaw changed
The Joshua fight is the one that rewrote the story. Paul left the ring with a broken jaw and had surgery on it twice, in December and again in February, as ESPN reported when it covered his clearance. In February his business partner Nakisa Bidarian told Bloody Elbow the return would come between August and November 2026. In May, Paul himself said his boxing career was “most definitely” in doubt. He is 29, and for the first time the question was not what weight, but whether.
His own summary, posted on X on October 8, is better than anything I could write: “Everyone wants the highlight reel. Nobody wants the broken jaw and two surgeries. You don’t get one without risking the other.”

October 8, 2026: cleared, and a list
Then the clearance. “Jake Paul has been cleared to return to the boxing ring,” Bidarian said on October 8, per ESPN, with a full return targeted for early 2027. Paul marked the occasion the way he marks everything, with a post. The list, in his order: Canelo Álvarez, Francis Ngannou, Conor McGregor for boxing and MMA, Sean Strickland, Darren Till, Ryan Garcia, KSI, Chris Eubank, Edgar Berlanga, Tom Aspinall, Deontay Wilder, Nate Diaz for MMA, and a world title. Strickland, the UFC middleweight champion, replied within hours, complaining that “McGregor makes 30 million to fight for 30 seconds and they don’t want to pay us a fraction of it.” Paul’s answer: “I see your texts but are you out of contract? Tell your ‘promoter’ to call MVP.”

Read the list as a weight chart and it is all over the place. Canelo fights at 168. Ngannou, Aspinall and Wilder are heavyweights who would make Joshua look polite. Strickland is a 185-pound MMA fighter talking about moving to 205. If Paul means any of this, 2027 will involve another trip around the dial, and nobody, including Paul, has said which direction.
@mostvaluablepromotions Jake Paul reflects on where it all began with Amanda Serrano 👑
They first crossed paths on the same card as Jake’s professional boxing debut, and since then the two have gone on to make history together.
Happy birthday to Amanda Serrano the MOAT 🇵🇷❤️
And…
Meanwhile, the ranch
The recovery months have looked, on his Instagram, like a man enjoying not getting hit: Italy with his fiancée, the Dutch speed skater Jutta Leerdam, and a Texas ranch where he recently introduced “15 new goated family members”, which are goats. In July, after MVP’s MMA arm merged with the PFL, he said his MMA debut would be against Nate Diaz in 2027. That is now two returns promised for the same year, in two sports, at two weights nobody has named.

What is known and what is not
Known: three official weights, one loss that broke his jaw, two surgeries, a medical clearance and a target of early 2027. Not known: the opponent, the date, the weight, and whether the injury changes who he is willing to fight. My read, for what it is worth from someone who covers red carpets more than ring walks: the list is marketing, the clearance is real, and the only number that matters next is the one on the scale the day before, because it will tell you which Jake Paul showed up.
