Modern designers create bikinis for women with big breasts, body positivity becomes almost the main agenda in the fashion industry, and breastfeeding becomes the subject of research by feminist photographers. If you’re one of those who also have big breasts, it does not mean that you are destined to suffer from back pain and be afraid of going out without a bra. Quite the contrary – we encourage you to please yourself with beautiful and comfortable sets, as well as properly care for the skin in the cleavage area. To better understand how to do this effectively, we contacted plastic surgeon Vladislava Gladysheva.

The beauty of breasts is made up of many aesthetic characteristics, and right now we are not talking about size. Of great importance is the position of the breast on the chest and its shape (rounded like the cup of a bra is considered ideal), color, roundness, size of areolas and nipples (the ideal diameter is between 38 and 42 millimeters), as well as their position on the breast hemisphere and skin quality (do not forget about pigment spots and stretch marks).
Let’s understand under what factors the appearance of the breast changes:
- lactation and feeding;
- weight fluctuations;
- hormonal changes;
- genetic features of connective tissue;
- weight of implants (if any);
- the severity of the effects of insolation;
- improper choice of underwear.
I like an academic approach, so I suggest looking at the mammary glands structurally, while also explaining how, if not to prevent changes completely, at least to level out the effects of exogens somewhat.

Be sure to choose underwear in your size and do not exercise without a well-supported bra. Cooper’s ligaments have a skeletal function in breast tissue. According to some scientists, they form an “inner bra”. These ligaments stretch well but are reluctant to contract, so the breasts require support. Especially during those types of exertion where there is bouncing.
Try to watch your weight and avoid sudden jumps. A very important factor is the already mentioned weight fluctuation. A stable weight is the key to youthfulness, not only of the mammary glands, but also of the face and body. Mammary glands are composed of glandular and fatty tissues, in all women in different proportions, so a significant increase in weight in some women acts on the glands and on these ligaments as lactation, that is, greatly stretches them.
Do not agree to heavy implants, if the form of the breasts you are not very happy. Quite often women are not mentally ready for a lift and hope that their breasts will “lift” on implants, but unfortunately, this will not happen. As I usually say at my consultations, the mammary glands have one way to go – down.

Now let’s talk about the skin itself. In the décolleté and mammary glands area, it is also subject to photoaging. Too frequent trips to the solarium and sessions on the beach under the sun result in pigment spots, “parchment skin” effect, wrinkles and dehydration. That is why it is necessary to protect the skin from UVA and UVB rays with creams with SPF 30 and higher, and never sunbathe topless.
After pregnancy, lactation and breastfeeding, as well as after serious weight gain and loss, stretch marks often appear on the skin – they are tears in the dermis. Unfortunately, there are no clinically proven ways to prevent stretch marks, but I recommend moisturizing your skin with a combination of cream and oil. This will increase the stretchiness of the skin and the dermal tearing mechanism will not be realized. Moisturizing and lifting patches and special creams for the mammary gland area also create a film on the surface that retains moisture. If you do not have high hopes for these products – they certainly will not tighten the breasts – their use is quite possible.

If your breasts have lost their acceptable shape, the areolas have enlarged and everything looks sad in general, the only way out is a breast lift. There are many variations of this procedure today: with or without implants, periareolar lift (the breast is gathered around the areola), circum-vertical (in the USA it is called “lollypop” – scars around the areola and down from it look like a lollipop stick), T-shaped or anchored. Which one is better? Of course, whichever is right for you. In this question, do not go for half measures, because the result will not be achieved and the operation will only bring disappointment.
To maintain skin turgor, you can also go to the center of cosmetology. Clients are offered a course of laser resurfacing on a hybrid laser Halo (one or two treatments at an interval of two to three months). After each session, regenerative processes are activated in the treated areas, and there is a natural increase in skin tone through the formation of new collagen fibers. Another option is Skin Tyte II infrared thermolifting. The action of the device is aimed at working with the age-related prolapse of soft tissues, skin ptosis and even the fight against localized fat deposits. Cosmetologists recommend to use such procedures in combination with biorevitalization to have more effective result.
