The most famous father-daughter song in hip-hop was written for a little girl who is now a mother who keeps her own son’s face off the internet. That is the whole arc of Eminem’s family in one sentence, and I find it more moving than any of the lyrics. When this page first ran in July 2023, Hailie Jade was newly engaged and Alaina had just got married. Three years later both are married, both are mothers, and Marshall Mathers has been “Grandpa” twice since March 2025.

Three kids, one very loud father
Eminem raised three children, and only one of them was born to him. Hailie Jade, born on Christmas Day 1995, is his daughter with Kim Scott (more on Kim’s story here). Alaina Marie, born on February 22, 1993, is the daughter of Kim’s sister Dawn; Eminem adopted her. Stevie Laine, born in 2002 to Kim and Eric Hartter, was adopted by Eminem in 2005 and came out as nonbinary in 2021.
He talks about them rarely, and when he does it sounds less like a rap star and more like a dad at a barbecue. On Mike Tyson’s podcast in 2020 he said of Hailie: “She’s graduated from college, had a 3.9 [GPA].” Of Alaina, then still described as his niece: “I have a niece that I have helped raise too that’s pretty much like a daughter to me.” And the line I think explains everything since: “When I think about my accomplishments, probably the thing I’m the most proud of, is being able to raise kids.” This from a man with fifteen Grammys. Noted.

Hailie Jade: from the songs to her own microphone
For two decades Hailie was the most-mentioned child in rap. “Hailie’s Song” and “Mockingbird” were written to her and about her, and the 2004 “Mockingbird” video is cut from the family’s own home tapes. Here is my read on why it still lands: it is not a love song to a perfect kid, it is an apology to a real one for a messy childhood.
The adult Hailie took the opposite route from her father’s public life. She built a lifestyle following on Instagram and, with her friend Brittany Ednie, hosts the podcast Just a Little Shady, which began its fifth season in August 2026 with a fan pop-up in downtown Detroit. She married Evan McClintock in May 2024, after an engagement announced in February 2023.

“Grandpa” on a Lions jersey
The family’s biggest announcement came in a music video, which is about as Eminem as news gets. On October 3, 2024, he released the video for “Temporary” (feat. Skylar Grey), a song written to Hailie. It mixes old home footage with her wedding day, and near the end she hands him a Detroit Lions jersey with “Grandpa” on the back, followed by an ultrasound. His face does the rest.

Elliot Marshall McClintock was born on March 14, 2025, three weeks before his April 4 due date; the middle name is his grandfather’s real first name. Hailie has been honest on the podcast about the unglamorous part. “I am constantly Googling stuff,” she said in December 2025, and: “Sometimes we’ll get a good night, sometimes we won’t.” In May 2026 she posted Elliot, 14 months old and in a tiny tux, as ring bearer at a friend’s wedding where she was matron of honor: “One of us walked down the aisle, one of us stole the show.” His face, as usual, was turned away from the camera. I respect that more than any caption.

Alaina: the daughter who chose the name
Alaina’s story started harder. Her biological mother struggled with addiction, and Eminem took her in and later adopted her, and the bond is no less real for not being written in DNA. On June 9, 2023, she married her longtime partner, drummer Matt Moeller, in the Detroit area; Eminem walked her down the aisle and Hailie stood beside her as bridesmaid. She signed her own announcement “Love, Mr & Mrs Moeller.”

When she announced her pregnancy in October 2025 she wrote: “None of this would have been possible without my dad. I’m beyond blessed.” On April 14, 2026, she welcomed a daughter: “Scottie Marie Moeller born 4/14/26 welcome to the world my sweet darling.” The name is the detail I keep coming back to. “Scottie, in honor of my ‘scott sisters,'” she wrote, “the women who have given the name and my life so much meaning.” That is Hailie and Stevie, written into a baby’s birth announcement. She also told a fertility app in the comments that she “already” wants “100 more.” I admire the optimism of anyone who types that with a newborn in the house.

What the family looks like now
Count it up: two weddings in two years, two grandchildren in thirteen months, one podcast in its fifth season, and a father who still says almost nothing in public about any of it except through songs. The family works the way a lot of families do after a rough start, around sisters who stayed close. Alaina named her daughter after them; Hailie put her father’s name in her son’s.
My take
Famous families are just families with worse privacy, and this one learned that earlier than most: Hailie’s childhood was on the radio before she could read. What strikes me is how both women answered that. They share the weddings and the jokes, and they keep the babies’ faces mostly to themselves. The little girl from “Mockingbird” grew up and decided what the public gets to see. That might be the best thing her father ever raised.
